Lwandle:Ten people have been killed in a shooting at an entertainment venue in Lwandle, prompting the establishment of a multidisciplinary team led by serious violent crime detectives to investigate the incident.
According to South African Government News Agency, the Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi, has initiated this team following the deadly event. Official police reports state that gunmen entered the venue, which also serves braaied meat, at approximately 01:46 and began shooting at patrons.
The attack resulted in five people dying at the scene, while another five succumbed to their injuries after being transported to medical facilities. Eleven additional individuals are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. Consequently, Lwandle police have opened murder and attempted murder cases.
Detectives are actively searching for the suspects involved, although no arrests have been made so far. The identities of the deceased will be released after their next of kin have been informed. In response to the incident, SAPS management has increased police presence in the area.
