NamPol nabs over 100 suspects for illicit drugs


WINDHOEK: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has confirmed the seizure of drugs and arrests made during the month of June.

In a media statement issued by NamPol Deputy Commissioner, Kauna Shikwambi on Monday, 112 suspects have been arrested in connection with illicit selling of drugs such as mandrax, cannabis and crack cocaine.

The statement further indicates that 106 of the arrested suspects are Namibian nationals, while one is an Angolan national, two Tanzanians, one Zamibian and two Zimbabweans.

Shikwambi noted that the total weight of seized cannabis was 191 837.97kg, while mandrax was 2285 full tablets and 5 units of crack cocaine. The value of these drugs has however not been determined.
