New Leadership Elected for Independent Development Trust

Pretoria: Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has welcomed the election of Zimbini Hill as the Chairperson and Professor Raymond Nkado as the Deputy Chairperson of the Independent Development Trust (IDT). Hill, who previously served as the interim chairperson, brings with her two decades of experience in executive leadership across various sectors, including financial services and public sector governance. She holds an MBA in Finance from Cass Business School at the City University of London. Professor Nkado, with a background as the former Executive Dean for the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of the Witwatersrand, has also served as the President of the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professionals. He possesses a PMP qualification from the Project Management Institute in the United States.

According to South African Government News Agency, the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure released a statement on Monday detailing the Minister’s meeting with the Board to formally welcome the new appointees and extend best wishes for their term. The Board subsequently convened with its trustees to finalize the selection of a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson from among its members.

The department highlighted that the election marks a pivotal moment for the IDT, as it resolves leadership vacancies that have persisted for the past 18 months. The newly appointed board is tasked with addressing several pressing challenges, such as ensuring compliance with the ongoing PWC investigation related to the PSA Oxygen Plant Tender, rebuilding public trust in the IDT, and steering the organization toward improved governance practices.
