News: Two suspects arrested for R2.5 million cannabis consignment

PRETORIA Two suspects aged 22 and 30 are expected to appear at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 March 2019 following an intelligence focused operation where a large quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value of R2.5 million was seized.

The Hawks’ South African Narcotics Bureau unit (SANEB), in cooperation with Crime Intelligence (CI), and Technical Response Team (TRT) stopped and searched a seemingly heavily laden Toyota Hilux bakkie on the N12 off-ramp in Edenvale just outside Johannesburg yesterday.

The resultant search of the vehicle that was en-route from Swaziland uncovered several neatly packaged bags of cannabis consignment that were reportedly destined for the local street market. The pair is expected to answer to charges of dealing in cannabis during their scheduled first court appearance.
