North West Government to Launch Service Initiative in Mamusa Local Municipality

Mamusa: In its effort to enhance service provision across local municipalities, the North West Provincial Government is set to initiate an extensive public service delivery program at Mamusa Local Municipality, located in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality. The initiative, led by North West Premier Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, will involve government departments, local and district municipalities, and State-owned entities.

According to South African Government News Agency, this initiative, named the Accelerated Service Delivery Programme (ASDP) – Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded, aims to improve basic infrastructure, enforce consumer compliance, and promote the provision of essential services in a coordinated manner. The program will provide communities with the opportunity to engage with provincial leadership on service delivery issues.

The provincial government has stated that public services will be available in areas such as Migdol, Amalia, Glaudina, and Ipelegeng in Schweizer-Reneke. The local municipality, which has faced water challenges, will see its bulk water augmentation and sewer projects in Ipelegeng inspected by provincial leaders. These projects are intended to alleviate the water supply issues for the community of Schweizer-Reneke.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the provincial government is committed to providing housing for low-income families. As part of the service delivery program, five newly completed RDP houses will be handed over to beneficiaries in Glaudina, and 42 title deeds will be presented to qualifying residents in Migdol.

Efforts to enhance educational environments will include the handover of 10 classrooms at Ikgomotseng Primary School. Furniture will be provided to Itshupeng Primary School, and chairs will be delivered to Mampho Secondary School in Ipelegeng, Schweizer-Reneke.

Leading up to the Friday event, streetlights and high mast lights are being repaired, potholes patched, and roads bladed. The team will also distribute food parcels to destitute families, provide agricultural support, inspect spaza shops, register indigent individuals, update business details on the Central Supplier Database, and facilitate online applications for identity documents and social support services.

The Premier will be joined by Members of the Executive Council and local and district Executive Mayors. Together, they aim to enhance municipalities’ infrastructure, ensure compliance, and promote collaborative service delivery. A community feedback session will be held to discuss progress in implementing service delivery projects and programs in the municipality.
