Pretoria: The three fallen police constables whose bodies were recovered at the Hennops River in Pretoria earlier this week will be honored with official funerals. This decision follows a meeting between the families of the late constables Cebekhulu Linda, Boipelo Senoge, and Keamogetswe Buys, the Premier of the Free State, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae, and the Provincial Commissioner of Police in the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.
According to South African Government News Agency, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Free State Provincial Government expressed their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen members. They acknowledged the profound impact of the constables’ passing on the nation, while affirming that their dedication and contributions will remain unforgettable.
The official funerals, scheduled to take place separately between May 8 and May 10, 2025, will honor each constable individually. Constable Boipelo Senoge’s funeral will be held on Thursday, May 8, at St Peter Anglican Church, Rocklands, Mangaung, from 8 to 11 am, with the burial at South Park Cemetery. Constable Cebekhulu Linda’s funeral is set for Friday, May 9, with details of the venue to be confirmed, but the burial will occur at Magengenene Cemetery in Mangaung. Constable Keamogetswe Buys will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 10, with funeral details pending confirmation, and the burial at Thaba Nchu.
A memorial service to honor the dedication and service of the late constables is planned for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Bloemfontein. It will take place at Bobbiespark, 02 Hannah Street, Bloemfontein, starting at midday. The constables went missing on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, while en route to Limpopo.
