Lusikisiki: Members attached to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime investigation unit arrested the outstanding suspect in the Lusikisiki mass shooting on Sunday, 05 January 2025, at about 16:00.
According to South African Police Service, the Eastern Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene had stated that police would not rest until the outstanding suspect was apprehended. Through a thorough investigation, police intercepted a bus at the King Williams Town Bus station that was heading to Cape Town. Upon searching the bus, they found the 20-year-old male, who was the only outstanding suspect in the Lusikisiki mass shooting. He was immediately arrested and will be charged accordingly.
The suspect is due to appear at Lusikisiki Magistrate Court soon.
Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, the Provincial Commissioner, has welcomed the arrest of the suspect. She thanked the public for providing valuable information that led to the arrest of all suspects related to the mass shooting. “I have commended the team and applauded them for tirelessly ensuring that those responsible for the Lusikisiki mass shooting are facing the full might of the law,” stated Lt General Mene.
