Over 500 classroom structures unfit for teaching in Oshikoto

The Directorate of Education , Arts and Culture in the Oshikoto Region has pointed out that there are 528 temporary classrooms in the region that are not conducive to teaching and learning . According to the directorate ‘ s deputy director , Tomas Kalimbo in an interview with Nampa on Thursday , these consist of pre – fabricated classrooms , sheds , tents and shacks . Kalimbo said all temporary classrooms have to be replaced with proper permanent classroom structures if schools are to improve teaching and learning conditions . ‘ All those are not the classrooms that we desire as they are not conducive to teaching and learning ,’ Kalimbo said . He further said the government alone cannot fulfil the education needs of all schools in the country , and they truly value , appreciate , and welcome classroom donations . Kalimbo further requested the school management , staff , school boards , and parents to develop their schools and not just rely on the regional office , regional council or the ministry to bring ab
out the development needed . ‘ Do not sit idle and wait on us . Be active and committed to developing your schools and take good care of all your infrastructure that you have as a school ,’ Kalimbo said . He also encouraged learners to take good care of their infrastructure and further called on the learners to prepare well for their end – of – year examinations and assessments .
