Gauteng: Police in Gauteng continued with counterfeit, contraband, and illicit goods operation on Friday, 14 March 2025. This joint operation that included National Counterfeit Unit, Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, Border Police, Public Order Police, Gauteng Traffic Police, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Brand Protectors and SARS resulted in the arrest of six illegal immigrants and counterfeit goods worth more than R1.5 million.
According to South African Police Service, the seized items include illicit cellphone accessories and branded material. The operation was part of an ongoing effort to curb the influx of counterfeit goods and address illegal immigration concerns in the region.
