Musina: The Police in Limpopo have arrested a 37-year-old foreign national for possession of illegal explosives at the Beitbridge Port of Entry in Musina, Vhembe District, on Thursday night, 03 April 2025.
According to South African Police Service, the arrest occurred when police officers, conducting routine inspections at the South Gate, stopped a white truck with Gauteng registration plates. During the search, officers discovered two boxes containing illegal explosives valued at approximately R300,000. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was en route to Gauteng Province.
The suspect was immediately arrested, and the vehicle was confiscated. The suspect is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of possession of illegal explosives.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the police officers for their vigilance and swift action. “The interception of these explosives is a significant achievement in our ongoing efforts to combat crime and protect our communities. We will continue to strengthen security measures at all entry points to prevent such illegal activities,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
Police investigations are ongoing.
