According to South African Police Service, police were called to a scene at Zone 2, Itsoseng near Lichtenburg, where the bodies of three people were found, while the fourth one was seriously injured. Emergency and Medical Rescue Services declared the trio (two males and a female) dead on the scene. The injured male was taken to hospital for treatment.
It is alleged that friends were having a house party, when 28-year-old Constable Lesego Eugene Phefo, took out a firearm and started shooting. Tlhalefo Setlhare (38), the girlfriend to the officer, and another male (name and age to be confirmed) were shot multiple times and died on the scene. The Const
able was also found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to his head and a firearm, close to his body.
Itsoseng police are investigating a double murder, attempted murder, and inquest dockets. The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He reminded and urged all SAPS employees to use the services of Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) in case of any challenges.
