President Offers Condolences for Former Eastern Cape High Court Judge President


Pretoria: The passing of former Judge President of the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court, Justice Clement Temba Sangoni, is a ‘profound loss’ to South Africa’s legal heritage.



According to South African Government News Agency, President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his condolences to Sangoni’s family following the justice’s passing on Tuesday. The President remarked that the passing of Justice Sangoni is a significant loss to his family, his immediate community, and the country’s judiciary and legal heritage.



President Ramaphosa highlighted Justice Sangoni’s dedication to justice and his efforts to improve the material conditions of communities in the Eastern Cape and beyond through constitutionally sound jurisprudence. He emphasized Sangoni’s commitment to the bench in the Eastern Cape and praised his leadership in the Judiciary, which collectively addressed matters critical to the province’s development.



The President also noted Judge Sangoni’s dual role as a traditional leader, which enriched his ability to adjudicate a broad range of matters before the courts. Sangoni’s involvement in community life was significant, and his contributions to the Eastern Cape’s judiciary and community were deeply valued.
