Pretoria: President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed commissioners for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). The appointments were made in terms of Section 6 of the Electoral Commission Act and on the recommendation of the National Assembly.
According to South African Government News Agency, Mrs. Joyce Pitso will serve as a full-time member of the Electoral Commission, while Judge Dhaya Pillay will serve as a part-time member. Mr. Mosotho Moepya has been appointed as a full-time member and will also serve as the chairperson of the Commission, as designated by the President in accordance with Section 8(1) of the Electoral Commission Act.
The Presidency conveyed the President’s best wishes to the commissioners, emphasizing their role in safeguarding the integrity of elections in the country. The appointed commissioners will serve for a period of seven years.
