Cape Town: President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed members to the Board of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) for a three-year term starting on 1 August 2025. This appointment was made in accordance with Section 9(1)(a) of the NYDA Act of 2008.
According to African Press Organization, the NYDA was established by an Act of Parliament to address the challenges faced by the nation's youth. The agency operates as a cohesive structure that tackles youth development issues across national, provincial, and local government levels.
The newly appointed board members are Mr. Bonga Siphesihle Makhanya, Mr. Sibusiso Makhathini, Dr. Wiseman Mfaniseni Mbatha, Dr. Sunshine Minenhle Myende, and Mx. Busisiwe Nandipha Nxumalo. President Ramaphosa has designated Dr. Sunshine Minenhle Myende as the chairperson and Mr. Bonga Siphesihle Makhanya as the deputy chairperson, as per Section 9(5)(a) of the NYDA Act.
The President expressed his appreciation for the board members' commitment to taking on the national task of empowering young people and securing a promising future for the nation.
