Pretoria: President Cyril Ramaphosa has wished South Africans a happy and safe Easter. He emphasized that a safe Easter period relies on citizens conducting themselves with tolerance, patience, and respect for everyone they encounter.
According to South African Government News Agency, President Ramaphosa, in a statement on Thursday, extended his best wishes for the Easter break to South Africa’s Christian denominations and those who see this time as an opportunity for rest and social connection. He remarked, “Easter is a special period for devoted Christians to celebrate their faith and the triumph of life over death, and it is an opportunity for South Africans of all backgrounds to enjoy rest and reconnection with family and friends.”
President Ramaphosa also urged citizens to be cautious on the roads and in social situations. He advised, “As we move around our beautiful country, let us reduce speed, buckle up, rest up, and leave our phones alone while we’re driving. Let’s make sure vehicles are well maintained and that we avoid the need to rush by leaving home or our workplaces early enough.”
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of patience with other road users and enjoying the country’s landscapes. The President expressed his hope that this time would be a period of care and peace in homes and communities, concluding with, “May this be a time of celebration and rejuvenation for the year ahead.”
