Johannesburg: President Cyril Ramaphosa will today deliver the keynote address at the Microsoft South Africa investment announcement in Johannesburg. The ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Campus in Bryanston.
According to South African Government News Agency, the Presidency stated that Microsoft South Africa has been a valuable partner in the country’s digital transformation over the past three decades. The investment announcement is expected to enhance South Africa’s standing as a leading Artificial Intelligence hub on the continent.
Microsoft’s announcement is strategically timed ahead of the South Africa Investment Conference, scheduled for March 2025. Since the inaugural Investment Conference in 2018, South Africa has successfully attracted R1.14 trillion in investment commitments across sectors such as mining, manufacturing, agriculture, energy, and the digital economy.
The Presidency emphasized that Microsoft South Africa’s investment aligns with the government’s goals for inclusive economic growth and job creation, in partnership with the private sector. It also supports South Africa’s G20 objectives in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation for Sustainable Development.
The session is set to commence at 4pm.
