PARKTOWN – Police in Gauteng remains resolute in addressing the scourge of crime against women, children and vulnerable persons.
On Friday, 09 September 2022 the Johannesburg High Court sentenced a father to two life terms imprisonment and an additional 15 years for the murder of his children, defeating the ends of justice and negligent handling of a firearm.
The two children, a boy and girl, visited their father in Lehae, Lenasia on 23 May 2022 as arranged with their mother; their parents has separated. Both the children were shot in execution style and succumbed at the scene. Preliminary investigation at the scene linked the father to the murders of his children and he was immediately placed under arrest.
The case was assigned to Warrant Officer Mota of the Gauteng Provincial Head Office (PHO), Murder and Robbery unit. Mota meticulously pieced all the evidence together and through the application of various investigative techniques, a water-tight case against the accused was brought before court.
“The outcome of this case is the result of our members who are committed in addressing the proliferation of crimes against our vulnerable community members. This lengthy sentence should serve as a deterrance to those who a future perpetrators – the long arm of the law will reach you,” said Lt Gen Mawela.
