Quiver FC crowned 2024 Harders Cup winners


Keetmanshoop ‘ s Quiver Football Club ( FC ) were crowned winners of the Fourth Harders Cup annual football tournament , walking away with N . dollars 200 000 and a floating trophy . Quiver FC beat Spiders FC from Noordoewer 4 – 2 in the much – contested final at L deritz on Sunday . En route to the finals , Quiver FC beat Mountain Rangers of Rosh Pinah FC 2 – 0 , while Spiders beat Youngsters from L deritz 5 – 3 on penalties after a 1 – 1 draw . The tourney started on Friday at the L deritz soccer field and saw 20 teams from the || Kharas second division league and one team from the first division league competing . In the 15th minute of the first half of the final match , Jacobus Meyer of Quiver found the net and at half – time the score was 1 – 0 in favour of Quiver . In the second half Quiver FC were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute after a handball foul by a Spiders player . Meyer took the penalty and found the net . In the 64th minute , Stephanus Makayi scored Quiver ‘ s third goal . The boys fr
om Noordoewer came back hard , giving the Quiver defenders a hard time and in the 82nd minute , Mosses Frederick found the net . Kaveid Kapunda scored in the 84th minute , making the score 3 – 2 . Meyer of Quiver sealed the deal in the 85th minute scoring the fourth goal . Quiver FC coach , Leevi Zanda , thanked the organisers of the event and his players for putting up a good fight throughout the competition . ‘ I am overwhelmed , coming into this tournament we were training morning and afternoon and it worked and I think that is what gave us the advantage here . I respect Spiders FC , they came fighting and they displayed good football , especially in the last minutes ,’ Zanda said . Spiders FC coach Cassey Khakisi said ‘ Since it ‘ s our very first time here I think it ‘ s a very big achievement . We just need to go back to the drawing board and get ready for next year . Coming into this tourney we had a programme for one month to prepare the boys mentally and physically because we knew we would play a lot
of games ,’ he said . Spiders walked away with N . dollars 100 000 , while Mountain Rangers and Youngsters walked away with N . dollars 50 000 and N . dollars 30 000 respectively for taking the third and fourth place in the tournament . Meyer received N . dollars 20 000 as the top scorer of the tournament with six goals .
