R170 000 Worth of Drugs Seized, Suspects Arrested


Komani: On 28 March 2025, Komani Crime Intelligence (CI), Queenstown Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), and Queenstown Flying Squad, during Operation Shanela, arrested nine suspects aged between 25 and 51 for allegations of possession and/or dealing in drugs at Komani and Ezibeleni respectively.



According to South African Police Service, the joint team conducted an intelligence-driven operation that involved searching four homesteads in Ezibeleni and five homesteads in Komani. During these searches, a substantial amount of boss mandrax and tik with a total street value of R170 000 was seized. This operation resulted in the arrest of nine suspects.



Five of these suspects are scheduled to appear before the Komani Magistrate’s Court, while the remaining four will face the Ezibeleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 31 March 2025.



The joint team received commendation from District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph for their efforts in striving to create a drug-free society.
