The hearing is scheduled for Monday, 25 August 2025, following his initial court appearance on Monday, 18 August 2025. The accused is charged with allegedly raping a 76-year-old woman in the Molatswaneng Section of Amalia, located outside Schweizer-Reneke, on Friday, 15 August 2025. According to South African Police Service, the incident occurred when the elderly woman, who was asleep at the time, heard footsteps inside her house on the night of the alleged crime. Upon investigating, she reportedly encountered a person standing near her bedroom door. It is claimed that when she screamed, the accused silenced her by covering her mouth, subsequently robbing her of cash and committing the alleged rape before fleeing the scene. Investigations are currently being conducted by the Vryburg Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, commented on the arrest, stating that it underscores the serious issue of gender-based violence and crimes against women, children, and the elderly.
