‘Reclaim Erongo Region’: Swapo


Swapo Party presidential candidate and party vice president Netumbo Nandi – Ndaitwah has called on its members and supporters to ensure that the party wins with a two – thirds majority and reclaim the Erongo Region . This according to Nandi – Ndaitwah , is to see to it that the region is managed in a manner that it will bring prosperity to the whole nation , being the trading gateway to the world . The presidential candidate was speaking at the party ‘ s first star rally of the 2024 elections at Walvis Bay on Saturday . Nandi – Ndaitwah reflected on Swapo ‘ s 34 – year tenure leading the government and restated the party ‘ s commitment to improving the lives of Namibians . ‘ As the party that liberated this country from the yoke of colonialism and oppression that has been here over 100 years , our vision which is centred on the wellbeing of the Namibian people remains . As such , the party is seeking the mandate for it to continue to deliver as we have been delivering over the years ,’ she expressed . Nandi
– Ndaitwah said the party ‘ s manifesto is clear and realistic , noting that it focuses on job creation , youth empowerment and natural resource beneficiation . ‘ Erongo Region , a hub for fishing , tourism , and minerals , has enormous potential for development and Swapo is committed to ensure value – addition , particularly in uranium production , as a central part of its economic strategy ,’ she noted . Nandi – Ndaitwah also preached job creation , noting that despite the country ‘ s economic performance status , job creation remains the key to take communities out of poverty and bring about sustainable development . She placed high regard on the party ‘ s recently manifesto , noting that its development is highly guided by the country ‘ s economic history and its future locally , regionally and globally . She added : ‘ It also has to be known that what we have put in our manifesto , we are not going to plan , we have already planned for those programmes and they are going to be implemented as articulated
. The reasons why we put in the manifesto the monitoring and evaluation programme is to ensure its full implementation and where we may fall short , there must be compelling reasons .’ The rally also witnessed the return and welcome back of former Walvis Bay Urban Constituency councillor Knowledge Ipinge as well as former Landless People ‘ s Movement chief whip Hennie Seibeb .
