Reward Announced for Information on Missing Police Constables

Bloemfontein: The Ministry of Police has expressed concern over the disappearance of three members of the South African Police Service (SAPS). In response, police have announced a R350,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of the missing constables and the arrest of those responsible for their disappearance.

According to South African Government News Agency, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu stated that National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, has assured every possible lead is being pursued. Minister Mchunu emphasized the importance of community assistance in solving the case, highlighting that no piece of information is too small in their efforts to locate the officers.

On Sunday, General Masemola and Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, met with the investigation team and the families of the missing officers. The SAPS leadership pledged continuous support and updates to the families during this challenging time.

The missing officers, 30-year-old Constable Keamogetswe Buys, 20-year-old Constable Boipelo Senoge, and 24-year-old Constable Cebekhulu Linda, were last seen traveling in a white VW Polo sedan. Their journey from Bloemfontein to Limpopo was interrupted, with their last known location being an Engen garage near the Grasmere toll plaza on the N1, on April 23, 2025. Since their disappearance, their vehicle tracking device and cellphones have been inactive.

Minister Mchunu expressed confidence in the team assembled by the National Commissioner to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to contact Captain Chaacha Manga at 082 527 6099. The SAPS has established a 24-hour Venue Operational Centre and mobilized a high-level team of detectives and crime intelligence operators from Gauteng and the Free State.

The investigation team comprises seasoned detectives, crime and counter-intelligence operatives, and members from specialized units, including the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations and the cyber-crime unit. The primary focus remains on finding the missing officers safe and unharmed, while also identifying those responsible for their disappearance.
