Sakaria happy with Oshana NamPol performance at police championship


Namibian Police Force Oshana Regional Commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria said it is very important to have an active police force in order for their performance to be high.

Sakaria made the remarks during a parade held on Tuesday at the police headquarters in Oshakati, following the participation of teams of the Oshana NamPol in the 27th NamPol championship.

The 27th Namibian Police Force annual sports championship took place from 24-30 June 2024 at Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region.

According to Sakaria, around 85 members participated in the championship, where they scooped 25 gold medals, as well as silver and bronze medals.

‘We took the third place for overall best performing region, an improvement from last year,’ he said.

He explained that in order to ensure high performance, they enforce sporting activities, where they introduced sport day every Wednesday for the members of the men and women in uniform to participate.

Sakaria indicated that they do the sport together as this also c
reates coherence and they do it as part of team building.

He stressed that preparing for the championship came with its own challenges that they were able to overcome them as a team, adding that the team displayed discipline throughout the championship.

The 28th championship will be held next year at Otjiwarongo.
