This operation took place on Friday, 27 June 2025, following the discovery of the victim’s abandoned vehicle in Dawnpark.
According to South African Police Service, initial investigations revealed that the vehicle owner had been forcibly taken and held captive. Within a day, intelligence efforts led the task team to a specific address in Germiston. Supported by a tactical unit, the team conducted a raid on the premises and successfully freed the hostage.
During the operation, two individuals were apprehended, while additional suspects managed to escape amidst a gunfire exchange with the authorities. The victim, once safe, confirmed his abduction occurred on Thursday, 26 June 2025.
In a related incident, just a week prior, law enforcement officers tracked down a notorious Mozambican kidnapping leader to an apartment in Fourways, Johannesburg. The suspect, implicated in numerous abductions, was fatally injured during a confrontation with the police.
