Bloemfontein: The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola, along with Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, is set to meet with the investigative team handling the case of three missing police officers. This meeting aims to provide an update on the investigation’s progress, facilitated by the Provincial Commissioners of Free State and Gauteng, Lieutenant General Baile Motsweenyane and Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, respectively.
According to South African Government News Agency, the meeting is scheduled for 1pm at the Park Road police station in Bloemfontein, Free State. General Masemola and his team will also meet the families of the missing officers and conduct a media briefing afterward. The National Commissioner has previously called on the public for help in locating the officers.
The missing officers, 30-year-old Constable Keamogetswe Buys, 20-year-old Constable Boipelo Senoge, and 24-year-old Constable Cebekhulu Linda, were last seen traveling in a white VW Polo sedan from Bloemfontein to Limpopo. Their last recorded location was the Engen garage near the Grasmere toll plaza on the N1, on Wednesday, 23 April 2025.
The SAPS reported that the vehicle’s tracking device and the officers’ cellphones have been inactive since their disappearance. The vehicle’s registration is JCL 401 FS. A Venue Operational Centre has been established and a comprehensive search is being conducted by a specialized team of detectives and crime intelligence officers from Gauteng and Free State.
The officers were reported missing while off duty and not having reached their deployment area. The SAPS is investigating the case as a possible hijacking and kidnapping. They are appealing to the public for any information regarding the officers’ whereabouts and have provided a contact number for the investigating officer, Captain Chaacha Manga, at 082 527-6099.
