SAPS operations clamping down on crime

The efforts of our operational members to ensure the safety of the community led to the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect during the early hours of this morning in Delft. The members were alerted of a shooting incident in Eindhoven and responded. A suspect was spotted fleeing the crime scene and he was apprehended in possession of an unlicensed pistol. Besides the possession of an unlicensed firearm charge, the suspect is also detained for the murder of a 30-year-old man who was shot and killed not far from where he was arrested.

In an unrelated matter, members of the Boland K9 Unit executed a search warrant last night in Truter Street Robertson, and deployed narcotic dog Snoekie in their search for drugs at the premises. Snoekie reacted positively which led to the discovery of tik to the value of R8000-00 hidden in the house. A 44-year-old man was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Both suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Blue Downs and Worcester on Monday.

Operation Vutha Hawe, an initiative by our detectives to trace wanted suspects resulted in the arrest of 386 individuals who were sought for serious offences such as murder, attempted murder, robbery, assault, burglary and domestic violence during the past week.
