Pretoria:The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced changes to its November 2026 social grant payment schedule, arranging payments ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for 4 November.
According to South African Government News Agency, the revised schedule allows older persons to receive their grants starting Friday, 30 October. Disability grants will be distributed on Monday, 2 November, followed by child grants on Tuesday, 3 November. Thursday, 5 November, has been allocated for beneficiaries undergoing the review process.
SASSA explained that the adjustments were made after consultations with various stakeholders to ensure efficient and secure grant disbursement during the election period. The revised schedule has received approval from the National Treasury.
SASSA emphasized its commitment to providing grants in an orderly and reliable manner and urged beneficiaries involved in the review process to respond to official communications and attend scheduled appointments. The agency also advised against unnecessary visits to SASSA offices, stating that payments will adhere to the announced schedule.
To counter misinformation, SASSA encouraged beneficiaries to rely on official communication channels for accurate updates. These revised arrangements aim to preserve the integrity of the social assistance system while ensuring continued access to grants for millions of South Africans.
