Johannesburg: The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a forecast indicating that a cut-off low, linked with a surface high-pressure system, will lead to windy, cooler, and unsettled weather in various parts of South Africa. This weather pattern is anticipated to commence on Tuesday afternoon and persist until Saturday.
According to South African Government News Agency, as the system progresses eastward, the Free State and the western half of the Eastern Cape are expected to experience these conditions. By Friday and Saturday, the weather may also have an impact on the North West, Gauteng, and adjacent provinces.
SAWS has stated that it will keep a close watch on the weather developments and disseminate updates and warnings as required. The weather service has cautioned the public to exercise additional caution on the roads, as strong winds could result in hazardous driving conditions.
The presence of strong to fresh winds over the western interior may also elevate the risk of veld fires, prompting SAWS to advise vigilance in these areas.
