Sentenced prisoners convicted for armed robbery

DURBAN – On 11 August 2022, the Nongoma Regional Court convicted and sentenced three armed robbers to 20 years imprisonment. The accused were charged on 30 November 2016 for a business robbery that was committed at Nongoma on 9 February 2016. They robbed a business premises where they stole a pistol and ammunition from the security guard as well as items that were sold at the shop.

The accused were already in prison serving sentences for unrelated cases that they were convicted and sentenced for in 2019. Linda Zulu (41) is currently serving a sentence of two terms of life imprisonment and an additional 46 years. Whilst Msizeni Joseph Shezi (42) is serving a sentence of two terms of life imprisonment and 41 years. Mncheneni Gazu (38) is also serving a sentence of two terms of life imprisonment and an additional 33 years. They are serving sentences for charges of double murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, kidnapping.
