Several busted and drugs confiscated during weekend operations – Uitenhage Cluster

UITENHAGE CLUSTER �Members from the Uitenhage Cluster are resolute to participate in efforts to address the root causes of crime and in line with our Back to Basics approach of targeted and informed deployment of resources. Members continued with their actions to focus on the provincial crime generators such as illegal drugs. Members from the Uitenhage Cluster followed up on information, executed a search warrant and found 290 mandrax tablets abandoned in a yard, worth R14 500, in Grompou Road, Rosedale. Members executed a second search warrant in Mooimeisie Street, Rosedale and found 35 clear plastic bankies dagga and 80 bompies dagga, also abandoned outside the premises. Eleven (11) drug related arrests were made over the past weekend.

Several successful operations were conducted with the assistance of the detectives, which yielded good results. A total of 87 suspects were arrested on charges ranging from murder, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, robbery and theft. Fourteen (14) traffic related fines were issued, valued over R7 000-00. The South African Police Service wants to encourage the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the confiscation of illegal firearms and the arrest of suspects.
