Pretoria: The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms expected to impact Limpopo, Mpumalanga, parts of Gauteng, and northeastern KwaZulu-Natal. The warning also includes the potential for damaging waves along the eastern coastline.
According to South African Government News Agency, the regions under the warning may experience hail, heavy downpours, strong winds, and excessive lightning. The SAWS has indicated that warnings may be upgraded if weather conditions intensify over the affected areas.
Widespread showers and thundershowers are anticipated in northeastern Limpopo, eastern Mpumalanga, and northeastern KwaZulu-Natal. Scattered showers and thundershowers are predicted for the rest of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, parts of KwaZulu-Natal, and northeastern Gauteng. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, parts of the Free State, and North West.
The SAWS also noted that temperatures across the country are expected to remain mainly warm.
