Shanah Tova Wishes Extended to Jewish Community by President Ramaphosa


Pretoria: President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his wishes for Shanah Tova to the Jewish community as they celebrate Rosh Hashanah. He emphasized the significance of this time, marked by prayer for forgiveness and the celebration of new beginnings in various aspects of life.



According to South African Government News Agency, President Ramaphosa expressed gratitude that Rosh Hashanah in 2025 coincides with the week of South Africa’s Heritage Day, highlighting the integral role of the Jewish community and Judaism in the nation’s cultural and religious landscape. He remarked that the occasion offers a moment for reflection on global suffering and conflict, urging a recommitment to values of tolerance, peace, and justice. He conveyed his hopes for the upcoming year to be one of health, safety, and prosperity.



South Africa is set to commemorate Heritage Day on Wednesday, 24 September 2025. Deputy President Paul Mashatile, acting in the capacity of President, will lead the 2025 Heritage Day celebrations at the Bridgeton Sport Grounds in Oudtshoorn Local Municipality, located in the Western Cape.
