Sheehama murder case postponed for bail application

The case of the seven people implicated in the murder of 24 – year – old university student Matheus Sheehama at Walvis Bay in August this year has been postponed to 22 October 2024 for bail application . The seven accused persons , who made their second appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate ‘ s Court on Tuesday , include the deceased ‘ s girlfriend , Jessica ! Gaes , her brother Jimmy ! Gaeb , as well as ! Gaes ‘ ex – boyfriend , Micheal Zoram Awaseb . The three stand accused alongside Mervin Wapota , Romano Paulus , Enrico Gomachab and Moses Kandume , whose case was on the roll for further investigations , however it was established that MTC records as well as DNA tests are still pending . They have been charged with murder , defeating the course of justice , and kidnapping . During their brief appearance , accused number two chose to conduct their own defence and accused 5 , 6 and 7 will apply for legal aid , while 1 , 3 and 4 opted to use private legal representation . is year after attending a braai with his girlfriend , after which he subsequently disappeared . After a week – long search , Sheehama ‘ s remains were washed ashore at Independence Beach , which led to the arrest of the accused . The case was presided over by Magistrates Vicky Nicolaidis , while Prosecutor Annakleta Kandjimi represented the State . Family , friends and sympathisers protested against the granting of bail for the accused persons and handed over a petition to the court before court proceedings .
