Pretoria: South African journalists and media professionals are being encouraged to submit their entries for the 2025 SADC Media Awards competition. This prestigious event is open to journalists from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Member States, offering a platform to showcase outstanding media work.
According to South African Government News Agency, the awards were first established in 1996 with the objective of recognizing exemplary media contributions that promote regional cooperation and integration through the dissemination of information related to SADC. The competition seeks to honor journalism excellence across various formats, including print, photo, television, and radio, while encouraging media practitioners to cover regional issues.
The winners of the first prize will have the opportunity to receive their awards and certificates during the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, slated for August 2025. The first prize in each category includes a reward of US$2500, while the runner-up will receive US$1000.
