Pretoria: President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared that the late Justice Fikile Eunice Mokgohloa will be honoured with a Special Official Funeral Category 2 on Saturday. The funeral service is scheduled to take place at 07h30 at the Hillsong Church in Wonderboom, Pretoria.
According to South African Government News Agency, Justice Mokgohloa passed away on 20 August 2026 at the age of 65, following a distinguished 20-year career in the judiciary. President Ramaphosa has expressed his condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues, highlighting her exemplary service to the nation and judiciary with integrity and dedication.
Justice Mokgohloa served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal since June 2019 and was previously the Deputy Judge President of the Limpopo Division of the High Court. Additionally, she held the position of Acting Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Appeal.
President Ramaphosa paid tribute to Justice Mokgohloa, noting her significant contributions to the judiciary and jurisprudence. He remarked that she left the nation 'at the pinnacle of her commitment to the rule of law and the administration of our courts,' with her legacy evident in her landmark judgments and judicial leadership.
The Special Official Funeral Category 2 will feature ceremonial elements by the South African Police Service, and the National Flag will be flown at half-mast at all flag stations until the evening of Saturday, 29 August. These arrangements aim to honor Justice Mokgohloa's significant contribution to South Africa's judiciary and her dedication to justice administration.
