A public lecture in honour of Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto, Freedom Park in Pretoria
The National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, in collaboration with the Angolan Embassy to South Africa and Freedom Park, a national heritage site, will on Sunday, 13 November 2022 host a public lecture in tribute to Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto, the Founding President of the Republic of Angola.

The Lecture is hosted in partnership with Antonio Agostinho Neto Foundation (FAAN), and forms part of the centenary commemorations in honour of the late liberation stalwart. Like many of the then Frontline States, South Africa owes her freedom and independence to this gallant statesman, and, above all, a true and sincere African liberator.

Speakers will include the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa, H.E Adão de Almeida, Minister of State and Head of Civil House of the Presidency, and the representatives from the ANC, SACP, and Agostinho Neto Foundation.

The lecture shall be preceded by the wreath laying ceremony, followed by the handover of the Bust of Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto to Freedom Park. The donation will also include literary and audio-visual materials produced by Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto. Dr Neto’s name is inscribed in the Wall of Names at Freedom Park.
