Suspect Appears in Court for Illegal Firearm Possession


Delft: A suspect was arrested in the Delft policing precinct for illegal firearm possession following stop and search operations conducted by members of Operation Restore. The operations took place on Saturday, 04 January 2025, in response to ongoing shooting incidents in the area. During their patrol on Wingnut Road, Thebulitsha, Delft, officers stopped an unidentified man and discovered a 9mm pistol along with ammunition in his possession. When asked for a firearm license or permit, the man was unable to provide one, leading to his arrest.



According to South African Police Service, the arrested individual is a 44-year-old man who is now facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is scheduled to appear in Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
