Suspect Arrested for Allegations of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm


Ilinge: A 34-year-old suspect has been apprehended by Ilinge SAPS members for allegations of unlawful possession of a firearm.



According to South African Police Service, the arrest took place on 28 March 2025, following a tip-off received by the police about an individual allegedly possessing a firearm at a specific homestead in the Ilinge location. Acting on the information, law enforcement officers proceeded to the designated location. Upon arrival, they requested and received permission to conduct a search of the premises.



During the search, officers discovered and seized an unlicensed firearm, which still had its serial number intact. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ezibeleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 31 March 2025.



Further investigations are underway to ascertain if the firearm is linked to any previous criminal activities. The District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s efforts towards crime eradication.
