CAPE TOWN – The efforts of the Flying Squad to create a safer environment for the community led to the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect for the illegal possession of a homemade firearm, also known as a zip gun as well as ammunition. During the early hours of this morning the members conducted a search at a residence in Kuilsrivier when the discovery was made. Once charged, the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in Blue Downs to face the charges against him.
In an unrelated operation, members of the same unit confiscated two stolen motor vehicles, a Mercedes Benz Viano and a BMW X3 at a residence in Sunset Beach, Milnerton. In one of the vehicles, mandrax and the drug, mushroom with an estimated value of R100 000-00 were found. The circumstances surrounding the discovery are being investigated and arrests are yet to be made.
