Suspect found with unlicensed firearm and ammunition

A 32-year-old suspect has been arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, dealing in dagga, possession of stolen property (copper cable) and damaging of municipal infrastructure.
It is alleged that on Wednesday, 28 December 2022 at about 15:00, Tumahole Crime Prevention members together with newly appointed Constables, received information regarding a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearms at a certain house in Winnie Section, Tumahole.
Police proceeded to the identified house and the suspect was surprised while at his house. A search was conducted, members found and confiscated the following items: two 9mm pistols, three 7.65 mm live rounds, 2.1kg dagga, undisclosed amount of cash and copper cable.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Parys Magistrates’ Court on Friday 30 December 2022.
