Suspects feeling the pressure as police visibility proves to be fruitful

WESTERN CAPE – Western Cape Public Order Police arrested an adult male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm in Blou Kappie Street, Roosendal, Delft last night at about 19:30. The members were busy with patrols to combat gang related shooting in the area when they spotted a suspicious male and when they stopped he started to run and the members gave chase. The suspect pointed the members with a firearm and was wounded in the process. He was apprehended and found in possession of a .22 pistol.

In an unrelated matter members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team searched a premises in Tania Close, Morganster, Mitchell’s Plain at about 21:30 last night and arrested a 64-year-old male for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and dealing in liquor without a license. The members were busy with crime prevention patrols when they received information from the public of a person that is selling liquor and has a firearm. The information was followed up and the premises was searched where the members found a 9mm pistol without a serial number, R5 rounds ammunition and liquor on the premises.

The suspects are due to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville and Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates courts on Tuesday, 03 May 2022.
