Swedish national dies in car crash near Tses

A 46-year-old Swedish national died instantly when the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a truck near Tses in the ||Kharas Region Friday night.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in a crime report indicated that the accident occurred on the Asab-Tses road, some 20 kilometres outside Tses, around 22h35 on Friday.

The deceased person was identified as Hans Agne.

‘It is alleged that he was driving from the direction of Mariental to Keetmanshoop when his vehicle swerved from his lane into the lane of an oncoming vehicle, collided head-on with a truck, and caused damage to both vehicles. It is further alleged that the deceased was stuck in the wreck, causing his instant death,’ said the report.

In an unrelated case, the police at Kamanjab in the Kunene Region arrested two men, both aged 23, after they allegedly gang-raped an intoxicated 18-year-old girl while she was returning home from a local bar in the early hours of Saturday.

an back to the bar and returned with two men who rescued the victim,’ said the report.

Meanwhile, police in the Khomas Region are searching for nine Angolan illegal immigrants who reportedly escaped from custody at the Katutura Police Station around 19h08 on Saturday.

They were detained by immigration officials and allegedly escaped while waiting to be transported to the Wanaheda Police Station.

The police at Onethindi in the Oshikoto Region are investigating an inquest after a 30-year-old man identified as Andunge Sam Shafishuna allegedly hanged himself on Saturday at Onamulunga village.

It is alleged that Shafishuna was found in his room at the village around 09h10 on Saturday with a wire around his neck. No suicide note was left behind.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
