Swift Police Action Leads to Recovery of Stolen Livestock and Arrest of Suspects

Limpopo: The SAPS Provincial Flying Squad in Limpopo has successfully recovered eight stolen cattle and arrested two suspects following a swift response to a stock theft complaint on Friday, 9 May 2025.

According to South African Police Service, members of the Provincial Flying Squad received a complaint regarding stock theft at a farm near Mall of the North in the Polokwane policing area. Reports indicated that eight live cattle were stolen from the farm and loaded onto a white Isuzu bakkie with a cattle trailer.

The vigilant Flying Squad members immediately began searching along the N1 South highway. Their efforts paid off when they located and intercepted the suspected vehicle on N1 South. The vehicle was found transporting four of the stolen cattle. Two suspects, aged 28 and 29, were apprehended at the scene.

During questioning, the suspects revealed that two additional accomplices remained at the farm with the other four stolen cattle. Police proceeded to the location, but the remaining suspects fled into the bushes upon noticing police presence. These suspects have been identified, and arrest is expected soon.

All eight stolen cattle were successfully recovered alive, along with the following exhibits: one motor vehicle, one cattle trailer, and one cattle control electrical shocker.

The two arrested suspects are facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property (livestock), with one suspect facing an additional charge of resisting arrest. They are scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 May 2025.
