Thabong Neighbours Arrested for Drug Dealing in Coordinated Police Operation


Thabong: On Thursday, 27 February 2025, at about 09:30, members of the Welkom Public Order Policing Unit, Platoon 5, conducted crime-combating operations in the 2010 Village area of Thabong. Following intelligence-led information regarding suspected drug dealing activities by two neighbours residing opposite each other, officers executed simultaneous search operations at both properties in 2010 Village.



According to South African Police Service, police discovered and seized ziplock bags containing Khat and an undisclosed amount of cash at one residence, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old male. At the second residence, members arrested a 40-year-old and found Mandrax tablets as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects were arrested and detained for dealing in drugs.



The South African Police Service commends the community for providing valuable information that led to these arrests. Authorities encourage residents to continue working with law enforcement to combat crime and ensure the safety of communities. The two will appear in the Welkom magistrate court soon.
