Hamilton: The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business has recently concluded an official visit to Hamilton, highlighting the city’s emerging role as a pivotal hub for trade, investment, and international collaborations.
According to African Press Organization, the visit was part of the three-day Africa Accelerating 2025 program, which convened business leaders, government officials, and stakeholders from both Canada and African markets. The event aimed to explore opportunities across various sectors, with delegates from South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, and Kenya participating in the High-Level Visit to Hamilton. This reflects a significant and growing interest in fostering partnerships with Hamilton and the broader Canadian economy.
As a key element of the program, delegates visited several Canadian firms and two significant institutions, Trident Engineering Institute and Nexim Healthcare Consultants, both led by Henry Lukenge. Lukenge, an entrepreneur from the African continent, has expanded his business operations into Hamilton, underscoring the city’s appeal to international investors.
“Hamilton is proud to welcome the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business,” stated Norm Schleehahn, Director of Economic Development for the City of Hamilton. He emphasized the city’s transformation into a leading global investment destination, leveraging strengths in manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem. Schleehahn noted that the visit underscored Hamilton’s readiness to cultivate international partnerships.
Garreth Bloor, President of The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, remarked on the Chamber’s engagement in Hamilton, aligning with its mission to foster stronger commercial links between Canada and African markets. By highlighting Hamilton as a prime investment destination, the Chamber aims to build bridges that facilitate opportunities and spotlight economic growth. Bloor also expressed gratitude to Henry Lukenge for his sponsorship, which was instrumental in realizing this program.
“This collaboration highlights Hamilton’s global outlook,” added Schleehahn, expressing anticipation for deepening ties with African markets and leveraging the Chamber’s leadership in creating significant business connections.
The visit to Hamilton is part of the Chamber’s Canada-wide initiative to promote trade and investment opportunities, paving the way for the upcoming Canada-Africa Business Conferences on the African continent, including events in Zambia and Namibia.
