Three Arrested with Illegal Firearm and Suspected Stolen Property at Maseru Port of Entry


MASERU: Police at the Maseru Port of Entry have apprehended three individuals in Clocolan on charges of possessing an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and a collection of items suspected to be stolen. The arrest followed a tip-off from the local community.



According to South African Police Service, the incident unfolded in the early hours of December 31, 2024, when law enforcement officials received intelligence suggesting the presence of a suspect with an unlicensed firearm residing in Clocolan Extension Six. Acting on this information, the police orchestrated a raid on the identified residence, where they discovered three individuals.



During the search, authorities seized a 9mm pistol lacking a serial number, along with a magazine and three rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 25 cellphones and six bank cards were confiscated as potential evidence of stolen property. The suspects, aged 20, 21, and 31, were promptly arrested and charged.



The trio is scheduled to make their initial court appearance at the Clocolan Magistrate Court on January 2, 2025. They face charges related to the possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and suspected stolen goods.
