Three suspects arrested in possession of presumably stolen livestock

On Thursday 23 December 2021 members of Mangaung Metro Highway patrol received information about a white Ford Ranger pulling a trailer full of suspected stolen livestock. The team swiftly responded by moving to the N8 National Road between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo where the vehicle was reported to be traveling.

The vehicle was spotted and stopped approximately fifteen kilometers outside Bloemfontein. Inside the Ford Ranger double cab were one African female aged 54 from Waverly in Bloemfontein, the 55-year-old African male from Ramakgari in Moroka and 62-year-old African male from Ratlou in Thaba Nchu.

The police confronted the suspects and asked them about the livestock that was loaded on the trailer. The suspects produced the documents including livestock removal certificates which didn’t correspond with the number and type of animals loaded on the trailer. Loaded on the trailer were thirty-five goats and one sheep.

The three suspects were then arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock. A case docket was opened at Navalsig Police Station and the suspects detained. They will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Tuesday 28 December 2021.
