Tunisia-South Africa – Ways to Combat Cross-Border Terrorism Discussed

Security challenges faced by Tunisia and the entire region including rising terrorism were discussed at a meeting Friday between Minister of National Defence Farhat Horchani and South Africa’s Ambassador in Tunis Mrs. Nonceba Nancy Losi-Tutu.

The Minister of Defence stressed Tunisia’s commitment to cope with the phenomenon of terrorism and secure borders with Libya after the deterioration of the security situation in this country, according to a Defence Ministry press release.

He also emphasised the need to strengthen bilateral co-operation in the areas of training and sharing of expertise and military industry as part of the joint military committee.

The ambassador of South Africa highlighted the need to promote co-operation between African countries to combat cross-border terrorism, saying it represents an obstacle to the stability and economic development of the continent.
