Two suspects found with unlicensed firearms

Community information leads to arrest of two suspects in Mamafubedu near Petrus Steyn in possession of two unlicensed firearms.

It is alleged that on 13 August 2022 at about 16:00 concerned community member noticed two people in possession of firearms and immediately informed the local police.

Police swift reaction yielded positive results after the two males were found at certain house sitting. The owner of the house allowed police to enter his house and search the two culprits. Indeed two firearms were found and seized. One firearm had serial number whilst another was removed. The firearms will be sent for ballistics tests and further analysis.

The two suspects aged 32 and 48 were arrested and are expected to appear before the Petrus Steyn Magistrate court on Monday, 15 August 2022 each facing a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms.
