During operations on Thursday, 21 August 2025, a total of four firearms were recovered and confiscated by members attached to the Tygerberg District Office in conjunction with the Durbanville Crime Prevention Unit.

According to South African Police Service, the members confiscated two firearms with ammunition and arrested three adult males, respectively. While on patrol in Thubelitsa, Delft Crime Combatting Unit members spotted three males acting suspiciously. It was later discovered that the suspects were collecting extortion money from Somalian shops. The apprehended suspect was arrested for attempted murder and the attack on police.

All the firearms will be sent to ballistics for analysis. Meanwhile, in Grassy Park, SAPS members acted on information that dagga was being sold at a premises in Rietbok Avenue, Lotus River. The members operationalized the information and searched the premises, confiscating a large quantity of dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime. A 32-year-old male was arrested for dealing in dagga.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Bellville, Blue Downs, and Wynberg Magistrates' courts once charged. Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen (Adv) TE Patekile, applauded the positive efforts of the members in the province.
